Resistance Welding Electrodes & Supplies
Serving North AmericA since 1983
Your Trusted Resistance Welding Electrode Supplier
Quality Electrodes and Components for High-Performance Spot Welding
In the demanding world of industrial manufacturing, the quality of your consumables defines the integrity of your product. As a premier stocking facility for resistance welding electrodes, Spotco provides the Upper Midwest and North America with a massive inventory of precision-engineered components. We specialize in providing the "business end" of your welding operation, ensuring that every tip, cap, and shank meets the highest RWMA standards for conductivity and durability.
Whether you are looking for standard replacement tips or specialized refractory metals for projection welding, Spotco is your local partner for unparalleled reliability. Our extensive warehouse allows for quick turnaround times, keeping your production lines moving without the long lead times often associated with specialty copper alloys.
Resistance & Spot Welding Consumables & Accessories
We stock a full range of components from the industry's most respected manufacturers, including Tuffaloy, CMW, and Nippert.
Standard & Offset Electrodes (RWMA Class 1, 2, & 3)
We maintain a deep stock of straight and offset electrodes in all primary RWMA copper alloys.
- Class 1: High conductivity for aluminum and coated materials.
- Class 2: The "workhorse" alloy for clean mild steel and high-production spot welding.
- Class 3: High-strength alloy for heavy-duty applications like stainless steel and silicon bronze.
Tuffcap & CMW Cap and Shank Systems
Maximize your tooling budget with high-efficiency
cap and shank systems. By using replaceable male or female caps (including
Nippert Nitrode and
Z-Trode options), you can significantly reduce waste and lower your cost-per-weld. We carry a full range of shanks and adapters to fit standard rocker arm, press, and robotic welders.
Nut and Stud Welding Refractory-Faced Tips
For projection welding and high-heat applications, we offer refractory-faced electrodes featuring Tungsten and Molybdenum (Elkonite®). These anti-stick tips are specifically engineered for nut and stud welding, providing the hardness and thermal resistance required to prevent electrode mushrooming and material build-up.
Secondary Conductors, Cables & Shunts
Ensuring efficient power delivery is just as important as the electrode itself. We supply high-flexibility kickless cables (dual conductor) and custom laminated copper shunts. These components are designed to withstand constant motion while providing the lowest possible electrical resistance for your secondary circuit.
Authorized Distributor for Industry-Leading Brands

What is the difference between Class 2 and Class 3 electrodes?
Class 2 (Chromium Copper) is the standard for mild steel due to its high conductivity. Class 3 (Copper-Nickel-Silicon) is harder and has a higher softening temperature, making it better for high-strength materials like stainless steel.
Are male caps better than female caps?
Male caps generally offer better water cooling because the water tube can get closer to the welding face, though the choice often depends on your existing shank setup.
How do I prevent electrodes from sticking to galvanized steel?
We recommend using Nippert Nitrode or Z-Trode caps. These dispersion-strengthened copper alloys are specifically designed to resist the "alloying" that causes sticking on coated steels.
Do you stock kickless cables for robotic welders?
Yes. We carry high-flexibility, water-cooled kickless cables designed to withstand the rapid, repetitive movements of automated welding cells.
Can I order custom-sized laminated shunts?
Absolutely. Provide us with your length, width, and hole pattern requirements, and we can supply custom shunts designed for your specific machine geometry.
What are "Refractory-Faced" tips used for?
These tips use copper-tungsten or tungsten inserts (Elkonite) to handle the extreme heat of projection welding, specifically for welding nuts, studs, and heavy brackets.
