     A World Of Resistance Welding

   Resistance/Spot Welding Specialists

Equipment, Parts, Service and Training

Seminar Organized

There are issues with training that need to be addressed prior to and during the actual training.  Objectives and goals should be developed to determine that everyone understands the purpose for the training.

bullet

PRIOR TO SEMINAR.

What does management expect and definitions.
Explain why training is taking place and objectives
Define clear performance results for the effort
Establish time line on results
Have a plan to handle work while learning.

bullet

 DURING AND AFTER SEMINAR

1. Set priorities on a strategic direction.
a. Determine if the machines are capable of doing the welding required
b. Establish a weld strength quality test that is applied on the line and by QC.
            c. Set weld schedule parameters for each machine.
            d. Create a random review of the weld settings to assure conformance to
documentation..
.e  Put into place a procedure that specifies test methods and frequency.
             f.  Allocate time and/or machinery to review and develop solutions to
implementing changes

A.        Part of the seminar time is given to evaluating equipment and its application.

B          As a group it should be decided what weld schedule parameters should be
included in each schedule. Each machine should be calibrated by the in-
house tip pressure gauge
C.        A weld schedule form should be made for each job run on each machine and
stored by the machine. If changes are made to the schedule a new document should be created.  The old document should be filed and saved.

D         . A periodic review should be established by QC department to check if actual job
schedule that is running matches the written schedule.  The QC department at the same time should review with the operator the testing methods and frequency.

E.           Establish a formal reporting system on welding problems and regular meeting to
address the issues.

POST SEMINAR ACTIVITY

Each operator, a week after the seminar, should make a list of welding changes and
what improvements were experienced?
These lists should be reviewed as a group.
Ask for another change each week for the next four weeks.
None of the improvements should be implemented without QC approval.

A group should be established to pursue any welding problems and or any
proposed improvements.  Time and machinery should be allocated on a regular basis to support this activity.

The above group should also review the pre-seminar time line for implementation  and
report to management.

ADVANTAGES TO TRAINING

            1. Morale goes up as operators recognize that the company in\s interested in
solving the problems not just placing the blame.
            2. Priorities will be more focused by assigning research group focus.
            3. Training becomes a stimulant to looking at the production process in a new
light.
            4. The training will develop teamwork by the sharing of methods that improve the
process.
            5. It establishes a feeling of a more professional aspect of the job because the
complexity is exposed concordant with actively developing solutions.
            6. Standards trend up due to reluctance to accept what happens as opposed to
correcting improvement.
            7. If new developments are presented the advantages and disadvantages are more
recognizable.
            8. Training of new operators is a product of everyone’s input not just the most.
experienced operator.
            9. The organized method of maintain the weld schedules makes replacing a
retiring or sick operator faster and less disruptive.
